Work Is Essential To Life

Jesus worked as a carpenter.

Work is essential to life. You were created to work and not to be idle. You are not a tree, you can move, speak or think. Imagine a life without work. It is so boring. There are no adventures. You are unproductive. In this world, there is always something “good” to do. Do not be averted by distractions. Many people today wonder why they seemed like they are not achieving something and tell themselves that they are just nothing, untalented, or fearful about doing something.

It is said in the Bible that those who are unwilling to work shall not eat (2 Thessalonians 3:10-12). We are designed to work. So you should work for yourself to live or for those people you love like your family. All you have to do is to be willing to work and pray so that God will improve your skill and even give you more skills needed for your work (Exodus 31:2-11,Exodus 35:30-35). Try to convince yourself. Think about your future. Think about your dreams, the people you love, your special someone and of course God. Work is a gift from God (Ecclesiastes 3:12-13), so whatever your work is, work hard, work smart and do your best at it. Hard work brings us advantage in life (Proverbs 14:23).

Since working hard helps us achieve our goal in life, it can make us happy. It is rewarding (Proverbs 12:14). Do you ever feel so happy when your work has been appreciated? I do. It is very rewarding. Someone appreciated and complemented my hard work and it seemed like all my stress and tiredness is gone. But always remember that you are not working for approval, appreciation or complement. You are working for it is a commandment from God. We are going to please Him.

As time passes, you will have a “work experience”. If you did your best, worked wisely and diligently, you will be skilled or competent. You will be sought by people (proverbs 22:29). It means that you can serve God more because people will see that a worker of God is doing a great work. We will be able to attract more people to let them know more about God.

All these means is that work can make us happy and feel blessed by God.
